Throttle snatch

I've continued to have trouble with jerky pick up of throttle especially at lower speeds. This, combined with heavy throttle action has dampened my enthusiasm for FJR.

Dealer's view is that these are usual characteristics of the model however I've found info on FJR users forum which points to these being common complaints.

One suggestion is to fit G2 Throttle tamer from Ergonomics as this alters the length of cable being used when first opening throttle, therebye giving much more rider control. ...

Stolen from Aberdeen Bikers.

For all those out there using Garmin Sat-Navs on their bikes (Zumo etc.) then the GMapToGPX utility is an excellent tool for planning your routes using Google maps - http://www.elsewhere.org/journal/gmaptogpx/

Bookmark the link in the instructions then go to Google Maps and design your route. When you click on the GMapToGPX book mark it will display a load of text which you then copy into Notepad and save as a .gpx file. If you have a Zumo then copy that file ...

I've a question that's been asked of me:

"I oil the chain when I park it after cleaning then a week later take it out for a run and find that I have oil spattered all over back wheel, mud guard, engine, etc etc

I then have to buy grease/oil remover and spend hours getting the cleanliness back to norm

Is there a trick to keeping chain oiled without having the mess

Oil and remover is as recomended by Shirlaws"

I've suggested the possibility of using a ScottOiler ...

Kawasaki 1400 GTR Safety Recall

Just had a letter from Kawasaki about a safety recall on the GTR - for the minority of GTR owners in the club. If you haven't had a letter yet it's something about the rear brake pedal. Apparently it's possible for a small stone or pebble to be lodged between the pivot which could make it difficult to disengage the rear brake!

On a slightly different note I contacted Shirlaw's to arrange the recall and have the bike serviced. They've got a free pick up and delivery for services this winter ...

What with an early start to the winter curtailing getting out on the bike as often as I would like, and with it the council putting down the dreaded salt, I thought it might be a good idea to ask what precautions and hints other folks take to protect the bike from the ravages of winter.

Last year, although the bike was in the garage the aluminium was still quite badly corroded with that white residue you get, expecially behind the panels that you couldn't easily see. Easily fixed by taking ...
