Thanks to David Morris and Steve Farrel for their help when i was driving back to Aberdeen and my engine died after driving through a 12" flood across both carrigeways just as the Ellon to ABZ road at Balmedie changes to dual carrigeway. Stuck in the middle of the road with no power (including my mobile that at the wrong time decided to have low battery) and it chucking it down was quite a daunding experience. After pushing the car to the verge and getting soaked and then regaining my composure, a couple of phone calls later from a borrowed phone and a long 30 minute wait while i let the engine dry, a turn of the key and foot to the floor was enough to get the get it started. It nearly all went pear shapped again on the way home as the road out of Bucksburn at the Rowett looked more like an olympic swimming pool but no problem the second time.
Both David and Steves help ovef the phone was very reassuring and i appricate their concern and offer of a tow which was thankfully not needed.
I think in the next couple of days we might all need go about in canoes, but if anybody finds themselves with a flat engine after fording a flood my advice would be to get the car safely off the road and wait a while before turning the ignition.
Thanks again to David and Steve.
P.S. Steves Busa would of pulled the whole front of the car off if he had given me a tow!!!
P.P.S. Keep out of the puddles
