PostSubject: Camping Trip to Moffat - The Plan   Sat Aug 22, 2009 8:56 pm

The following is my current plan:

Friday 28th: Leave the Kingswells P&R at 1200hrs and stop at the Spital of Glenshee for lunch. Then on to Perth and down the M90 to Edinburgh and a short stop for afternoon tea. Round the Edinburgh Bypass to take the A702 and A701 to Moffat hoping to get there about 1800hrs.

Sat 29th: Aim for a run west through Galloway to Portpatrick just south of Stranraer, about 125 miles there and 100 miles back. If the weather is not good then shorter runs west or east are possible and there is always the leadmines to visit at Wanlockhead.

Sunday 30th: Either straight home via the main roads or crosscountry to Edinburgh then through Fife (lunch in then world famous chipper in Anstruther) then the coast road north or visit Knockhill where the Ulster Superbikes and Scottish Championship road races are being held.

For those not leaving with me on Friday, James and Diane are leaving after work so you can either tie up with them, make your own way or use this forum to meet up with others who may wish to leave at the same time as yourself.

Regards - Ian.

A MASSIVE thank you to Ian for organising a great weekend. In particular I want to thank you for encouraging me to try out camping with the bikes. Now James and I have a whole new set of adventures to arrange!
The whole weekend was just "magic".
Special thanks to Alec also who lead a group on both days.
Between the 2 of them we managed to cover some incredible roads and views.
Also thanks to everyone who turned up - the company makes a huge difference to how much fun it is.
Overall we managed about 700 miles. Must be due a new bike soon - this one is getting worn out!

I'd like to add my thanks to Ian for organising this one too. One to add to the yearly plan. This was planned last year but didn't quite come off - what a shame.

While not exactly enjoying the camping experience - (in a tent Richard if you're reading this!) - I did enjoy the weekend. Despite nearly merging the GTR with a Pan (now there's a customisation that would be worth seeing) the Saturday run was lovely. I ended up in a small, but select, group due to the rest of the group pissing off without me Wink
