Following the cancellation of last year's camping trip to Applecross due to a combination of lack of interest and poor weather, I propose for this year a choice of two locations, ie Applecross or Moffat in the Borders.
Applecross - Leave on Friday 1600ish and camp in Glen Sheil at the head of Loch Duich. Refreshments in the Kintail Lodge Hotel. Saturday a trip round Skye then camp in Applecross. Sunday home via Braemore Junction. This trip is not suitable for non campers.
Moffat - Leave Friday 1400ish and travel south to Moffat trying to avoid trunk roads. Saturday west thro' Galloway National Park to Portpatrick returning to Moffat. Sunday home through the Borders.
This trip is suitable for non campers as the campsite is within Moffat its self so folk could stay in local hotels and everyone could meet up for evening socialising (I'm often reminded by the committee that we are a social club) . The Black Bull hotel is adjacent to the campsite and the Buccleuch Arms is recommended by MCN and gives 15% discount to Motorcyclists. Individuals would book their own rooms.
If you are coming and have a preference of location then let me know either through this forum or personally and I will decide, depending on feedback, on Wednesday 5th August where we are going.
Regards, Ian.
